31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #5 - Apartment 143

Image
When a paranormal investigation team is sent to investigate strange events occuring in an apartment they are forced to determine whether the disturbances are really coming from a supernatural source.  This is another entry into the found footage sub genre. I appreciate the fact that they didn't use the shaky camera approach to the filming of this movie. As far these types of movies go this wasn't particularly bad or good it was just middle of the road. It had a couple of nice moments, but overall it was just a typical supernatural found footage style movie. Some of the conclusions made in the movie really didn't fit the events that were happening, which did bug me through the film. As a movie to past the time it fit the bill and beyond that it wasn't anything special.

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #4 - Altered

Image
Altered - When childhood friends are abducted and tortured by aliens they spend the next several years trying to capture one to exact revenge. But, when they finally capture one it doesn't go as planned. Eduardo Sanchez, who directed The Blair Witch Project brings this horror alien sci fi flick to life. Since my previous run of Netflix horror movies had been less than stellar my expectations were rather low. I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. It has a great cast with a nice mixture of horror, gore, humor and suspense. The special effects especially for the alien creature were quite good and gave the horror movie an overall great feel to it. This is one movie you will be welcomed to be Altered.

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #3 - Hypothermia

Image
Hypothermia - While doing some ice fishing at their family cabin, Ray Pelletier (Michael Rooker) mistakenly falls through the ice, although unharmed he awakens something beneath the ice that is out for blood. This is another Netflix gem even with a running time of an hour and 12 minutes the pace of the movie makes it feel a lot longer. Even though it's categorized as horror it takes awhile for anything "horror" to really happen and when it does you kinda wish it hadn't. I watched it basically for Michael Rooker who gives a fine performance everyone else not so much. I think I would have rather seen Rooker ice fish through the whole movie and talk about his horror movie moments then to sit through this frozen fish of a film.

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #2 - Dracula

Image
Dracula - You can't do a challenge like this without going back to old school horror and I go way back with Dracula. What can you say about this classic film that hasn't already been said. It is a horror movie that spawned one of the most recognizable horror icons in history and Lugosi plays him brillantly. Based off the Bram Stoker classic book, Dracula leaves Transylvania and heads to London in search of new blood and encounters an unlikely foe in Van Hesling, who himself becomes a fixture in the horror world. Even with the over the top acting, limited special effects and lack of haunting music this film is still a classic you can sink your teeth into!

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #1 - Crowsnest

Image
Crowsnest - When a group of friends decide to have a getaway weekend things turn horror filled when they end up being terrorized by unknown assailants in an RV. I found this little gem (yes, that was sarcasm) on Netflix so my expectations were not that high. This movie ends up being a prime example of how the found footage sub genre has finally run it's course. This film is filled with so many horror cliques I lost count and the acting is terrible and cheeseball...even for a horror movie. This cast is so beyond annoying that you won't be able to wait for them to meet their demise....which sadly is lamer than this entire movie. Crowsnest is a hot mess from beginning to end and everywhere in between! I'll also be doing a 30 Day Horror Movie Challenge on Instagram and I have already answered Question #1
