Image
Since I have spent the last 30 days writing a mini review for every horror movie I watched through the month I figured on the last official day of Halloween I would take a break from a review. Instead of just watching 1 movie on this day I watched a few so I figured I would share what I watched through pictures....enjoy and Happy Halloween!!

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #30 - Sleepy Hollow

Image
Sleepy Hollow - Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is dispatched to Sleepy Hollow to help investigate a series of grisly deaths. As he gets further in his investigation he learns the sorted history of Sleepy Hollow and its inhabitants and also the Legend of the Headless Horseman. Believing this is just a myth created by the town, Ichabod sets out to use science to help prove that it is a town's person that is responsible for the killing and not a headless horseman. But, when Ichabod experiences the Horseman for himself he starts to rethink his plan on solving these murders. This is a re-telling of the classic story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but this is done with Tim Burton's style. I have always enjoyed Burton's style of direction and the vision he uses when creating his films. Johnny Deep always shines in Burton movies and this one is no expectation, with the supporting cast of Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman you can't really go wrong. ...

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #29 - Tucker & Dale vs Evil

Image
Tucker & Dale vs Evil - When Tucker and Dale decide to spend the weekend fixing up their vacation home in the woods they get mistaken for psychotic killers by a group of college kids when they rescue one of their friends. As the body count accidentally starts rising Tucker and Dale try and figure out the cause of all the bloodshed while one of the college students has his own agenda against Tucker and Dale. This movie is hilarious from beginning to end. It is a great combination of comedy and horror, which is a delicate balance that a lot of horror comedies can't get right. I loved that the typical things that Tucker and Dale do throughout the film are given such a great comical spin and with the addition of some great killings just makes the movie all the more solid. This is actually a great starter film for someone looking to get into horror, but isn't ready for all the blood and gore that can come with it. Trust me when I say that a trip with Tucker & Dale into the ...

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #28 - Hollow

Image
Hollow - A group of friends decide to have a getaway at their friend's grandfather's cottage, but good times are not the only thing on the agenda. Located near the property is a huge and looming tree with a horrific past. It is said to be the place where couples have hung themselves in a suicide pact. As they delve further into the tree's legend, friendships will be tested as they struggle not to be the tree's new victims. This is another found footage film, but with a British cast, but sadly that doesn't even help this movie. Although it is touted as an investigation into the legend of this tree that is really barely ever covered and when it is spoken of it is in brief sections with hardly no further explanation. Instead this movie is more about the interlocking relationship of this group of friends including unrequited feelings and betrayal. This film is slow, boring and doesn't play to anything horror at all, trust me the end does not come soon enough.

31 Day Horror Movie Challenge - Movie #27 - The Hitcher

Image
The Hitcher - When Grace and Jim decide to getaway during their Spring Break their trip takes an unexpected and dangerous turn when Jim unwittingly gives a ride to a stranger. While on the road, the hitcher attacks them to which they fight back and ultimately end up throwing their violent passenger out of their moving car. They think their nightmare is over, but the cat and mouse game has only begun. This is a remake of the classic 80's movie starring C. Thomas Howell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Rutger Hauger. This film does follow the original, but they upped the blood and gave it a more dark overtone. Sean Bean is brilliantly sinister in his role of John Ryder, the hitcher and the rest of the cast gives a standard, but entertaining performance. Although not as good as the original it is an entertaining road trip.
