Cosplays I would do if money were no object
In my session today we discussed a variety of different topics, but what Dr. Lector wanted to focus on most were fun things I have done, granted he used a bigger word than fun, but you get the point. So, I brought up my various convention adventures at both horror and comic cons, with of course horror cons being the ones I felt most at home. We discussed that I had even tried my hand at cosplay. Although I must admit I thought I would never do cosplay, due to the fact I knew very little about it and figured I could never do it properly. But, I did have some friends encourage me (yes I do have friends) so I thought I would give it a try and I found that I really enjoyed it. I may even post some pictures of myself in costume once "borrow" back my laptop from the facilities confinement room.
To continue, even though I am still new to this still doesn't mean I haven't complied a laundry list of costumes I would love to do someday. But, I think the biggest obstacle I face, other than not being given a body drawn like a comic book character is the cost factor involved in pulling off an exquisite costume. I know that the costumes I have listed can be done and have been done quite well, but from my stand point financially and my perfection level of things, which Dr. Lector is working on with me, these are the costumes that are currently not within my reach, but it still doesn't mean a girl can't dream or hallucinate.Lady Mechanika - For those of you that have not read this outstanding comic book I feel sorry for the fact that you are missing out on such a lovely supernatural comic tale. Dubbed Lady Mechanika, by the press she was the sole survivor of a brutal madman who cut her arms and legs off and replaced them with mechanical parts. Along with her new accessories she developed supernatural abilities and uses them to help solve usual crimes and to discover what really happened to her. As you can see from the picture this is a steampunk style inspired character and with the influx of steampunk culture everyone is steampunking a variety of characters. This particular photo is the exact replicate of the costume I would love to do. This would include a full
out leather corset, leather utility style belt and every single accessory she is wearing right down to the goggles on her head and the pistol in her hand.
Magdalena - For those not familiar with the Magdalena comic, a daughter is chosen to be trained to dispense justice and vengeance in the name of Christ. She wields the spear of destiny, which is the same blade that pierced Christ's side.
I will start off by saying that I have seen this costume done and done very well. You can tell that the cosplayer(s) spared no expense on bringing this costume to life. To me the construction of her armor looks like the bulk of the costume process along with the details of the crosses on the actual costume and of course on the armor. There are variations of this costume with some having a leather/liquid leather look to her pants and top with other art giving her pants and top an almost velvet look. There is also the spear of destiny construction and her other small swords will need to have detailing as well. This is a stunningly beautiful costume and I would love to wear it to a con someday......once I win the lottery.
Demon Hunter - This photo I actually found on another one of my mildly nerdy obsessions...Pinterest. It reminds me of Death from Darksiders, which I have seen some amazing cosplays of that character. This one I think is absolutely maddeningly gorgeous! This photo was actually my wallpaper on my cell phone, which much like my laptop has been locked away....but soon we shall be reunited. I think in order to pull this costume off it would all be in the details and when you get into the details the details can cost you the most money. Between her shoulder armor, her metal corset, detailed pants and boots and her weapons. I can already see dollar signs just oozing out of this gorgeous creation.
Lily from Legend - I have lost count on how many times I watched this movie as a child and I still enjoy watching it after all these years. It is a great fantasy film that combines great elements of good and evil and Tim Curry as the devil is beyond amazing. As a child I was mesmerized much like Mia Sara's character Lily in the film by a faceless dancing entity in a gorgeous black flowing dress. The high collar looks challenging and the bedding of her sash along with finding the perfect fabric to replicate this dress looks daunting and expen
