The World's End Review

Okay so I almost didn't get to see the The World's End because it seems I had not accumulated enough of the required "behavior points" in order for this type of extracurricular activity due to an "incident" the previous week. Look, I'm sorry, but anyone who goes around saying World War Z is the greatest zombie movie ever made is just asking to be attacked with a spork....regardless of how many degrees they have. But, thankfully Doctor Lector felt that my failure to see this movie would be a determent to any further therapy regarding my fangirl ways. I do appreciate him seeing the logic and reasoning of why I had to see this movie and after viewing the film I stopped off and picked him up a nice bottle of Chianti to thank him.

When slacker Gary King decides to convince his 4 best friends from childhood to complete the Golden Mile, which consists of 12 pubs, one night with the goal to make it to the final pub, The World's End. Gary and the guys soon discover that reliving the past can have out of this world consequences.

Before I go into my "official" review of this film, as most who know me know that a big portion of my fangirling adventures regard Simon Pegg. I've been a huge fan of him for many years and I love the moments when I get a chance to see him on the big screen. So, with this film being the finale of the Cornetto trilogy it just made it that much more special.

So to continue on with an "official" review of the film to put it bluntly I really enjoyed it and not for the obvious reasons, but for the fact that this was just a fun movie to watch. I think what makes it work is that it is on many levels a relatable film. I think a lot of us have a Gary, Andy, Peter, Oliver or Steven in our life, or we know someone who believes reliving the past makes life worth living or maybe you just want to do a pub crawl that could possibly end...with well the end of the world. Either way dealing with life gets hard and sometimes reliving your youth isn't always such a bad thing.

I feel like I could go further into details of this film, but then that could borderline on becoming spoilerific and that would just be rude. So, I will conclude by saying with the combination of a fast paced film, humor that is laugh out loud funny and action that will have you wanting to punch a robot this is a great nightcap to the great collaboration of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Edgar Wright and their Cornetto trilogy.
